Our client manufactures an array of high-tech products, including a new line of enterprise computers that they were excited to launch. These machines are designed for industries and professions requiring high-performance computing and significant processing power. Our job was to reach these audiences by raising awareness among influencers, customers and prospects while catapulting our client above the noise of the current hyper-competitive marketplace.
The launch required a multi-faceted approach that would not only inform audiences of the new features and benefits of the machines, but also give them a way to connect and interact with the technology to receive tangible evidence of the power and performance of these new machines. To achieve these goals, we created a new website and modified the mobile app used by our client’s salesforce.
The website features beautiful product shots and an interactive configuration guide section that empowers the user to choose a machine based on their business vertical and ideal level of application support. However, the most ambitious component of the website is its 3D virtual tour. Rather than taking users through static photos and spec sheets, we provide an immersive tour that takes them inside the machine itself, allowing them to learn about key features and interact with those that interest them most. The 3D virtual tour, a combination of video and animation, is a shining example of how the latest web technologies can be used to create imaginative user experiences that go above and beyond traditional web applications.
Another component of this project is the website infrastructure: it’s a CMS-driven powerhouse. While the public-facing website is designed to educate and excite consumers about the product launch, behind the scenes the website functions as a content repository that allows mobile app users to dynamically receive content updates from a microsite on three native apps (iOS, Android and Windows 8) over a network connection. Our client highly valued the ability to maintain content without having to go through a time-intensive app updates process. Our client leveraged this tool in the field, and indeed their salesforce was able to provide the latest information for potential customers quickly, efficiently, and reliably.
In addition to managing the production and deployment process, I provided digital strategy, content/technology research, user experience design, and information architecture strategy. At every step of the way, I was involved in not only brainstorming ideas and leading design and strategy sessions, I also communicated these concepts directly to the client. I cultivated a rapport based on trust, which consistently resulted in buy-in from the client over the full product lifecycle, by leading presentations and maintaining clear documentation (i.e., user stories, content outlines, site maps, page description diagrams, etc.) tailored to the client’s needs.
