Swim for Smiles Foundation is a nonprofit organization that uses kids’ athletic events—mainly triathlons—to raise money for the North Carolina Children’s Hospital. I was honored when asked to take a stab at redesigning the official website. Best of all, I was given full creative license to create something fun! I especially wanted to add social sharing, feature more multimedia content, and promote athletic education to spur community engagement.
This redesign was one of my earliest sites, and it stoked my passion for the entire web design process, from research and concept design to launch. I leveraged as much of the existing branding as possible to create the final concept, including web assets (i.e., page banners, ads, and icons). I also conducted extensive content audits/inventories.
My efforts didn’t stop after the site launched. I was the webmaster, the blogger and I helped with social media management to promote Swim for Smiles athletic and fundraising events, including the largest youth triathlon in the USA. I also managed calendars, blogs, and events for Swim for Smiles partners, including Triangle Multisport.
